June Recap: Food

The food in Bahrain is AMAZING!  This month we discovered a few new restaurants…some good, some not so good.

David’s Stir Fry Crazy is now my favorite Chinese restaurant ever!  The Peking duck is the best and a must order every time we go.  We’ve been three times this month if that’s any indication to how much we like it.  The shrimp and crab wontons, chicken and shrimp dumplings, szechuan beef, Mongolian beef, general tsos chicken, and Vietnamese fried rice are all great.

Hash House is equally delicious Thai food.  The Tom Yum Talay, with seafood and a blue crab is silky, spicy, and flavorful.  Other favorites include the salmon, the lenongrass drink, pad thai, and green curry.

Emmawash, introduced to us by my coworker Anhar, served traditional Bahraini cuisine.  The bread with cheese and honey, chicken liver in a tomato based sauce, shakshuka (eggs with tomato or potato), qeemah (meat and veggies in a thick stew), and qaymat (fried balls of dough drizzled in date syrup) were like nothing we’d had before, but in a good way.  We’ll definitely be back.  Great food and great company

Other food finds, unpictured, include Attic, karak tea and fresh juice.  I’ll provide pictures for these in a later post.

The bad – Imari.  Ridiculously overpriced for food that was mediocre.
