Quite frankly, while there are plenty ways to do it, there is no “best” way to go broke. The best thing is to do the exact opposite and NOT go broke. But one of the most exciting ways is through food! I’m not sure where the trend started, but Friday Brunches are a big deal in Bahrain. You can easily spend hundreds (that was plural!!!) of dollars on one single brunch.
Recently, we were invited to join a group of people and decided to embark on our first brunch experience. Friday brunch at the Art Rotana is BD36 ($95 USD) per person with house beverages and selected drinks or BD25 ($66 USD) per person with non alcoholic beverages. At those prices, it had better not disappoint! Thankfully, we caught it on special and had a military discount, but yeah…. we’re a family of 3.
Upon entering, we couldn’t help but notice the ambiance. The room was perfectly lit, almost to a glow. The food spaces were arranged in a most appetizing way, with an extensive salad bar, an Indian food corner, a roasted meat corner with brisket, chicken, lamb, and turkey, a sushi table, a pasta cooking station, a grilled pork station (that’s a big deal in these parts), a cheese station, chilled seafood table with crab, oysters, mussels, clams, and shrimp, and a dessert row!
In addition to all of that, there was a band, a balloon artist, and Tigger. They even had a kids corner with a television and games. Overall, minus a member of our party (who decided to call a thobe [traditional male Muslim attire] a dress and volunteered his opinion on HBCUs begin pointless), we had a great time! Now, so that you can experience this journey through this post, here go the pics. Hope you enjoy 🙂
